Best Beaches in Texas

The Gulf Coast has several beaches but South Padre Island, Port Isabel are 2 of my favorite beaches. The seashore and water are cleaner and clearer then other beaches I have been to, example Port Aransas was nothing compared to Port Isabel. Port Isabel sand was a tan color, Port Aransas beach was a gray color. The water at Port Isabel felt less salty too.  One thing I can say good about Port Aransas is there is more seafood restaurants and the ferry ride from Port Aransas to Aransas Pass is awesome. You get to see dolphins ride along the side. You can even get out of your car to experience the ride. Mustang Island is a nice state park for camping on the beach.   They have RV hookups and clean restrooms with showers...

Checklist for Travel in Texas/Example of items not to take on carry on bag

Everything may be bigger in Texas, but the luggage shouldn’t be. Our weather here is unpredictable. If you are traveling between April and October, you will not need any heavy clothing. In the summer months the high is 90 degree and above. June to the end of August is our summer months. I can remember a time in the mid 1990’s swimming in October. Packing your clothing should be a light load in the summer months. Pack several pair of shorts and short sleeve tops if your planning to come in the summertime. Jeans or dress pants for evening wear if you are going places that shorts and sandals are not allowed...

Texas Got It Right!

Texas Got It Right!

Texas Got It Right!

Friendly is what you will find in Texas. Our Friends in need are friends indeed. Texas is close to the coastal waters so from time to time we encounter hurricanes, flooding and severe winds that sometimes sustain to 100 miles a hour. We all come together and help out with shelter, food, clothing and medical needs. Paying it forward has its benefits. There are more non-profit community based clinics and programs then any other state. I know because I worked in one for 10 yrs. and it was rewarding to help the community. Everything is bigger in Texas, its the second largest state by both area and population. We can also have the highest speed limit at 85 mph. “Look out here we come.” Texas is the nation’s leading cattle, cotton and oil producer...

San Antonio Texas/Fiesta

San Antonio Texas is a nice city to visit. It has the largest party in Texas! “FIESTA” People from all over come to this party which happens next year in April 16-20,2020.  It originated in the 1891 flower parade as a salute to the heroes of the battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto. A group of women formed the Battle of Flowers Association. I have been going to Fiesta since 1980’s. It continues to grow and is fun for all ages. The Riverwalk Plaza is another wonderful place to visit. It has all kinds of places to eat, drink and shop. There is hotels along the river. Lots of entertainment and parades on the river during Fiesta and holiday seasons...

Texas Hill Country

I have lived in Texas most of my life and the Texas Hill Country is so beautiful. The rolling hills along with the fresh air with a scent of cedar trees is refreshing. Canyon lake is a nice place to go camping or for day usage. I recommend Jacobs Creek Park or Potters Creek Park. Jacobs Creek is for day usage but it has a waterfront with sheltered picnic tables, public parking and boat access to the Canyon Lake. There is a playground near the restrooms. I love the beach front especially good for kids. Starts out shallow, there is a orange rope that helps to navigate the water at its deepest point. Potters Creek is for overnight camping. There is  screened shelters, RV and tent spaces. All sites have electric and water. It has boat access and bath house with restrooms...
